Catbells Guide helps you plan a walk on Catbells, the fell above Derwentwater in the Lake District. Please read this before relying on it.

## Conditions Change

Conditions on hills change quickly, and the weather on a summit is often colder, windier and wetter than in the valley. Use this guide alongside a map, a mountain forecast (the [Met Office](https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/specialist-forecasts/mountain) and [MWIS](https://www.mwis.org.uk)) and your own judgement. Walk times are estimates for a steady pace; allow more time for children, stops and bad weather, and turn back if you need to.

## Parking, Prices and Transport

Car park prices, opening times, parking restrictions and bus, train and boat times were checked on the dates shown on each page. They can change at any time. Always follow the signs and restrictions on site.

## Maps and Routes

Our route lines are drawn from OpenStreetMap and are for planning only. Paths can be diverted, closed or hard to follow on the ground. Carry a proper map (such as the OS Explorer map for the area) and know how to use it.

## Not Official

Catbells Guide is an independent guide. We aren't connected with, or endorsed by, the National Trust, national park authorities, councils, the Met Office or any transport operator.

## In an Emergency

Call **999**, ask for the **police**, then **Mountain Rescue**. If you might not be able to speak (or have poor signal), register for emergency texts in advance by texting **register** to **999**.
